Educational and metodical work

Teaching and Studying

Curriculum and instruction Branch

University Curriculum and instruction Branch is curricular and administrative structural subdivision of higher educational institution and conducts planning, organization and control of educational process in the University. It’s functions are:

1) the development jointly with other sections, faculties and departments the projects of curriculum (lesson plans), academic programs, training agenda and other documents on planning of educational process;

2) recording and analysis of academic progress, organization and control of all types of academic studies, some measures on improvement and quality of effectiveness in training of trainees;

3) organization of entrance exams, interim and final academic assessment of trainees preparation of final documentation and distribution recording;

4) planning and organization of methodical work;

5) recording of achievement of academic workload by the instructional staff;

6) planning and control for the organization of professional commissioned officers training (where there is no staff), measurements on training and advanced training of academic teaching staff;

7) participation in the development jointly with faculties, departments, sections and divisions perspective and annual development plans and modernization of training facilities. Planning and organization in providing educational process with the textbooks, training aids and files; control of Scholarlike libraries work and planning of using classrooms, labs and other training facilities.

Academic work includes the following directions:

1) making suggestions on modernization of legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, classification code for categories of postgraduate education, state compulsory for all educational standards;

2) implementation into educational process modern educational and instructional methods and software support of training automated system, information system, information library system;

3) development of academic program, participation in training projects of model curriculum;

4) development of textbooks, teaching materials including on electronic media and instructional material;

5) conducting events on generalization and sharing with pedagogical experience and informational support of education;

6) development and implementation of instructional-methodical, educational training resources;

7) development and implementation of educational documentation for training on new technology;

8) make suggestions on unification of academic programs in military professions;

9) examination process of lesson plans and academic programs according to the demands of state compulsory for all educational standards;

10) the analysis of influence on organization of teaching and studies for current academic progress of students;

11) development and examination process of tests and other forms of students’ knowledge control;

12) monitoring of educational process, educational material and guidance papers provision;

13) development of methodological support for self preparation work of students;

14) quality of textbooks procedures, teaching materials and study guides;

15) analysis of teaching quality and level of students’ educational achievements;

16) organization and holding seminars, conferences, meetings on modernization of teaching and studies;

17) development of methodological support on annual formation of group of students including profile, level and opportunities training;

18) development of recommendations on teaching of state, Russian and foreign languages for all training levels.

National Defense University is the first among military higher education institutions of CIS countries which switched completely to credit technology on Master’s and PhD programs.

The implementation of credit technology training was achieved on the basis of academic documentations, new types of lesson plans and rebuilding of lesson plans development.

Over the last years the teachers jointly with the scientists from other higher education Institutions of the Republic and professionals from forces have developed and implemented state compulsory for all educational standards of new generation into educational practice which at the present time are upgraded for a high quality training of professionals taking into account the implementation of innovative educational technologies and modern demands. Totally, it was developed state compulsory for al educational standards majoring in seven – Master’s degree program, one – PhD and more than ten model curriculum.

For the last three years there was recommended more than 30 titles of educational and teaching literature for the usage in NDU.

For improving the efficiency of credit education technology there was expanded and modernized data base. There was also created e-library, Office registrar programs and programs of e-document management.
